1. Russia’s Sparkling Wine Market in 2025: Domestic Brands Defy the Downturn as Prosecco Leads Imports
In 2025, Russia’s retail sales volume of sparkling wine declined 3.2% year over year to 22.7 million decaliters, though still above the 2023 level of 21.6 million decaliters. Market stagnation has been confirmed by multiple retailers.
Fort reported a 5.5% decline in bottled wine sales, with revenue remaining flat, while Ladoga and Simple Group maintained their 2024 sales levels. Notably, the Pyaterochka supermarket chain recorded an 18% increase in sparkling wine sales.
Italian Prosecco became the top-selling imported brand through Fort’s distribution channels, followed by Russian-produced dry sparkling wine. Sales of non-alcoholic sparkling wine doubled year over year.
Despite the overall market contraction, domestic sparkling wines delivered strong performance. Simple Group reported a 6.3% increase in sales, Metro grew 12%, Pyaterochka rose 20%, and Ladoga achieved growth of up to 21%, effectively offsetting declines in imported wines.
Industry observers note that locally produced sparkling wine has become the core growth driver of the category. However, supply-demand imbalances persist. Experts predict that domestic sparkling wine will continue to gain market share in 2026, supported by stable quality and strong price competitiveness.
2. Alibaba Qwen Open-Source Models Surpass 400, China Ranks No.1 in Global Open-Source AI
According to the latest data from Hugging Face, the world’s largest open-source AI community, the number of Alibaba Qwen open-source models has surpassed 400, making Qwen the most widely adopted model family globally.
The Qwen open-source lineup covers “full-scale” model sizes ranging from 0.5B to 480B parameters and supports “full-modality” capabilities, including text, vision, and speech. The models support 119 languages and dialects, positioning Qwen as one of the most popular open-source AI model families worldwide.
Hugging Face data from December 2025 shows that the top three open-source model adoption rates globally were Qwen (53%), Meta LLaMA (15%), and Google Gemma (14%). To date, Qwen models have exceeded 1 billion cumulative downloads and generated more than 200,000 derivative models, ranking first globally among open-source AI model families.
Driven by Qwen and DeepSeek, China’s open-source AI ecosystem is rapidly rising. A report by MIT notes that in 2025, Chinese-developed open-source large models accounted for 17.1% of global downloads, surpassing the United States (15.8%) for the first time and ranking No.1 worldwide.
3. Southeast Asia Food Delivery GMV to Reach USD 22.7 Billion in 2025
Southeast Asia’s food delivery market is projected to grow 18% year over year in 2025, reaching a total GMV of USD 22.7 billion.
Thailand is expected to lead regional growth with a 22% increase, driven by government consumption subsidies and intensifying platform competition. Indonesia, Malaysia, and Vietnam are also projected to achieve growth rates of 18–19%.
Grab has further consolidated its market leadership, increasing its market share from 53.8% to 55%. ShopeeFood has overtaken Foodpanda to become the second-largest player in the region.
4. Alibaba Qwen Open-Source Models Surpass 400, China Ranks No.1 in Global Open-Source AI
According to Hugging Face, Alibaba’s Qwen open-source models have exceeded 400 in total, ranking first globally in adoption across the open-source AI community.
The Qwen model family spans full parameter scales and modalities, supporting text, vision, and speech across 119 languages and dialects. As of December 2025, Qwen led global open-source model adoption with a 53% share, far ahead of Meta LLaMA (15%) and Google Gemma (14%).
With over 1 billion downloads and more than 200,000 derived models, Qwen has become the world’s largest open-source model family. Alongside DeepSeek, China’s open-source AI ecosystem has achieved global leadership, with Chinese-developed models accounting for 17.1% of global downloads in 2025.
5. Japan TikTok Rice Boom: Koshihikari Livestream Generates JPY 12.8 Million
A surge in rice sales has emerged on TikTok Japan. CREOK FARM sold 20 kg bags of Ibaraki-produced Koshihikari rice priced at JPY 15,600 through limited-time livestream promotions.
Across three livestream sessions, peak concurrent viewership reached 8,400 users, generating total sales of JPY 12.8 million within three days.
Japan’s rice prices rose sharply in 2025, increasing 67.5% year over year. A 5 kg bag of polished rice now costs approximately JPY 4,300–4,500, compared to RMB 24–40 for a similar quantity in China, significantly raising the cost of staple foods.
Food and beverage categories are performing strongly on the platform, with seafood products such as sashimi-grade crab ranking among top sellers. However, Japan’s 778% rice import tariff continues to restrict Chinese rice imports. Sellers are advised to collaborate with local supply chains to effectively enter the Japanese market.
