1.US Snowstorms Drive Demand for Windshield Cleaning Products
Severe snowstorms across the United States have sharply reduced driving visibility, triggering a surge in demand for automotive cleaning and protective accessories. A windshield self-lubricating coating applicator recently went viral on TikTok US, thanks to its ability to create a hydrophobic layer on car windows and significantly improve visibility in rain and snow.
Over the past 30 days, the product recorded 4,815 orders, generating USD 90,400 in GMV. Against the backdrop of a USD 200+ billion US automotive aftermarket and an aging vehicle fleet, extreme winter weather has further accelerated demand for products such as windshield wipers, de-icing sprays, and in-car heaters.
2.TikTok Shop Weekly Bestsellers Revealed in the US and UK: Practical and Aesthetic Products Lead the Trend
The latest TikTok Shop weekly bestseller rankings for the US and UK markets highlight both regional differences and shared trends.
In the US, the “Tarte Big Stick Energy Set” topped the chart with an estimated GMV of USD 1.8–2.3 million. Shaping concealer kits and matching concealer brushes from the same brand also performed strongly, followed by energy storage products, skincare, and health-related items.
In the UK, home and beauty products dominated the rankings. The UREVO under-desk treadmill led the list, alongside steam cleaners, skincare products, and practical home essentials.
Across both markets, products that combine strong functionality with appealing design have emerged as a clear common trend.
3.China–Laos Railway Adds Four New Central Asia Freight Routes
Starting at 00:00 on January 26, China’s national railway network implemented a new operating schedule, introducing four additional Central Asia freight train services via the China–Laos Railway. The first train departed from Kunming on the same day.
The route runs south through Laos to Vientiane, connects with rail networks in Thailand and Malaysia, and ultimately reaches Central Asian destinations including Kazakhstan. The initiative aims to strengthen cross-border logistics corridors linking China, Southeast Asia, and Central Asia, while improving international intermodal transport efficiency.
The new services are coordinated by China Railway Kunming Group and operate on a fixed schedule with standardized train numbers and full-route tracking.
4.ACEA: BYD EU Registrations Surge 167% in December, SAIC Sees Slight Decline
According to data released by the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA), Chinese automakers showed divergent performance in the EU market in December.
BYD’s new vehicle registrations in the EU surged 167% year over year, continuing its strong growth momentum across European markets. In contrast, SAIC Motor’s EU registrations declined slightly by 2.1% during the same period, highlighting a clear contrast in market performance between the two automakers.
5.Anta Acquires 29.06% Stake in Puma for €1.5 Billion
On January 27, Anta Group announced the acquisition of a 29.06% stake in Puma for €1.5 billion, funded entirely with internal capital. The transaction is expected to be completed by the end of 2026, subject to regulatory approval.
Following the deal, Anta will become Puma’s largest shareholder and plans to appoint representatives to Puma’s supervisory board. No mandatory takeover offer is planned at this stage.
The acquisition marks a major milestone in Anta’s global expansion strategy. Post-acquisition, Anta Group’s total global revenue is expected to approach that of Adidas, while the industry closely watches the upcoming challenges of brand integration.
